Diablo 3 Real Money Item Auction House

Updated on September 5, 2011

Blizzard Announced Real Money Auction House

A lot of people have been following and waiting with the up most desire for the new Diablo game to come out "Diablo III". While I was looking it up one day it came to my attention that Blizzard is finally taking advantage of all those people from games in the past who sell items or gold. You know who I'm talking about, if it's not gold farmers of World of Warcraft it was people in Diablo 2 MFing bosses to get good items to trade for high runes or SOJs in order to sell them. Now blizzard has actually added that to the game. They will have an in game auction house that you can sell your items or buy items just like any other auction house, just this one will be linked to a PayPal or something and actually effect you in reality. I can see this auction house going two ways. Either it’s awesome and you can make a buck off your characters or it will be flooded with people just doing item runs and over flooding the market making it hard for just the regular Joe to sell his items.

Here’s something else that is good about this whole new revolutionary aspect of gaming. It makes buying items and gold safe for the guys who actually buy them. Before, it wasn't the most secure way of buying in game money or items. You had to buy it and then hope that the person you paid actually gives you the items or gold. I don't know about you but I don't really trust my money to someone with the only thing I can go on is hope that I get what I paid for.

Blizzards Cut

In the past, people were selling in game items and money and making 100% of the profit off them. Blizzard saw this and from what I'm guessing decided that all their hard work and time isn't going to be taken advantage of buy what I like to call "digital black market dealers". Blizzard has made it so that they get a cut of what is being sold in their game. Pretty much there will be a posting fee for you to post your items. Don't be turned off just yet you will be getting a few free listings per week so if you’re not looking to pay a posting fee you will be able to still sell a few things a week.

You will pretty much be able to sell anything it the game. You can sell items, money and eventually even characters. To me this is great news because it's about time someone takes control of all the behind the scenes buying and selling and makes it super easy and secure.

Do you think the in game "real money auction house" is a good thing or bad thing?
